Crisis & Polarisation: Where next after the US election?

Speaker: Shaun Doherty

At the time of writing we do not know what the results of the US election will be. We do know that that Trump is in crisis and we all hope to see the end of the worlds number one bigot.
Trump’s extreme bigotry over so many issues is well documented, with racism and encouragement to fascist and white-supremacist forces being at the forefront of the divisions he stokes. The best news that came out of the US in 2020 was the inspirational Black Lives Matters movement.
The combination of economic recession, rampant coronavirus infection, mass protests against racism and repeated personal scandals have put Biden ahead of Trump in polls for weeks.
However Trump has been written off before only to win what he was expected to lose. Either way the political divide in the US runs deep and will not end just by the election.
